Nia Archives

Halifax / London, UK ยท 2021 - present

Nia Archives is a 25-year-old DJ and producer from Halifax and London whose music sits at the intersection of jungle, garage, trip-hop, and R&B in ways that feel genuinely new rather than nostalgic. Her debut album Silence Is Loud in 2024 was one of the most-discussed UK records of that year, earning her a Mercury Prize nomination and introducing her sound to a much wider audience.

She grew up with jungle in her background, her family listened to it, and she came to it as a creative form in her early twenties through DJing and then through making her own tracks. The result is music that has the technical fluency of someone who understands the tradition from the inside and the freshness of someone who isn’t repeating it.

Her live DJing has built a reputation that extends well beyond what the recorded work alone would suggest. She performs with a precision and energy that converts people who came for the name and leave as dedicated fans. The Glastonbury set she played in 2025 is one of those sets people reference when they talk about live music doing something records can’t.

“Danger” is her first new track since Silence Is Loud and suggests the second album will arrive on its own terms, which is probably the right approach for an artist who built her audience by refusing to make obvious choices.
