Sean Ono Lennon, the singer and lyricist for the duo, described ‘Meat Machines’ as a contemplation on humanity’s struggle against the idea of being mere biological machines destined for replacement by robots. He emphasizes the belief in free will and the special essence of living, breathing, and feeling.

The song is accompanied by an ‘eye-popping visualizer’ that draws from the project’s companion comic book, illustrated by Rich Ragsdale. The album itself is described as a ‘concept piece accompanied by a colorful, phantasmic comic book’ and was over three years in the making. ‘Meat Machines’ follows previous singles like ‘WAP (What a Predicament)’ and builds on the album’s narrative world of AI-powered optimization and revolution through untamable idiosyncrasy.
