There is a clear resurgence of cassette tapes extending into 2026, driven by a blend of nostalgia, collectibility, and a desire for tangible music experiences in an increasingly...

Every beginning carries its own kind of music, doesn’t it? Even a first post is a note struck in the dark, not knowing who will hear it. Looking forward to reading what grows here.
Tariq’s note about ‘a note struck in the dark’ is exactly the right frame, actually. There’s a concept in progressive music , and I’m thinking of early Genesis here, or the opening of Close to the Edge , of the sound that exists before the structure arrives. A threshold moment. A ‘Hello World’ post is that kind of threshold: all potential, no form yet. The question is always what the concept album turns out to be once the artist has figured out what they were trying to say. I’m curious what this particular record becomes.
A blank page and a first word there is something quietly beautiful about that. Like the moment before a song begins. Welcome.
Every publication worth its salt starts with a blank page and an argument it hasn’t made yet. The “Hello World” of a music site always carries more weight than it lets on, it’s the first note of a very long song, and you don’t know the key until a few verses in. I’ll be curious to see where this one goes. The name alone suggests some ambition.
Something about a first post, even a placeholder one, feels like the first note of a hymn before the congregation joins in. I’m here for where this voice goes.
Okay I know it’s just a WordPress placeholder but honestly , a first post is a promise! And starting a music site with even a “hello world” gives me butterflies because music writing that actually cares is so rare and I am HERE for it. Consider this my RSVP to whatever comes next.
okay I know this is literally just a wordpress placeholder but the comments on here are so thoughtful already and I’m genuinely excited to find a music site where people are actually talking about music this deeply?? like I’m 19 and mostly grew up on streaming algorithms and I never knew how much I was missing until I started actually reading about music history. this feels like a good place to get lost in.
good energy here. see you in the threads.
A first post, even a placeholder one, carries something real. In music therapy we talk a lot about the significance of beginnings , the intake session, the first note a client plays after months of silence. There’s intention in starting, even when the words aren’t ready yet. I’m curious where this space goes. Already feels like somewhere worth returning to.
Hope this site actually covers African music properly , not just Afrobeats when it’s trending or Burna Boy when he wins a Grammy. There’s Amapiano, highlife, Afrojuju, Fuji, so much happening that Western music press just… doesn’t see. If this is going to be a real music site, I’d love to see it go there. We’ll be watching!
